About Me

Mrs. Axe is in her 12th year teaching. This is her 6th year at St. Benedict’s, she previously taught at Medlock Bridge Elementary and Heards Ferry Elementary. Mrs. Axe is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio; she attended Ohio University for Early Childhood Education. Upon completion of her undergraduate degree, she was a nanny for two years while studying to be a Mild to Moderate Intervention Specialist at Xavier University.
Mrs. Axe moved to Smyrna after she married her husband, Brian, in 2008. She has 3 children who all attend St. Benedict’s: Andy (3rd), Charlie (2nd), and Ellie (nursery). You will often find Mrs. Axe at the Smyrna Little League ballfields, Smyrna Sharks swim meets, and Upward sporting events cheering on her children. When she is not there, you may find her baking, drawing, or cheering on Atlanta United or the Atlanta Falcons.
Mrs. Axe’s has been working with children for years. In her teens, it was rare she wasn’t babysitting. When she was old enough, she started as a camp counselor and eventually was program director for 6-10 year olds at a summer camp. Mrs. Axe has experience working as a special education teacher in Fulton County for 6 years, where she was named Heards Ferry’s “Face of Fulton”. She co-taught with a wide array of teachers and mentored a number of teachers over the years. Mrs. Axe is trained and certified in various things including: SOLO, FUBA, CBA, Kolbe, Kolbe-Y, CRA Math, and Autism training.
While at St. Benedict’s Mrs. Axe and the second grade team, with support from the Acorn Fund, have helped launch the Steam/Coding program. Mrs. Axe enjoys planning fun activities that challenge and engage students. If you walk by her classroom, you will frequently see her laughing and joining in the fun with her students.
