About Me

Marcela was born in Colombia where she pursued a bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the Javeriana University.  In Colombia Marcela worked as director of human resources for 12 years. When she moved to the United States in 2000 with her husband and children, she discovered her passion for teaching and working with children.  Marcela began her teaching career at VCLC as a pre-k and kindergarten lead teacher.  In 2011, to continue developing her skills as an Educator, she decided to pursue a Master Degree in Applied Linguistics at the Jaén University of Spain and a Masters Degree in Teaching Spanish as a Second Language at the International Iberoamerican University of Puerto Rico.

Marcela is very proud of being one of the founding teachers of St. Benedict’s Episcopal School in 2009.  For her, it is a privilege and a blessing to have the opportunity to be part of something as important and special as teaching and training future generations.

Marcela is a lover of nature, music and dogs. She has two dogs and likes to go for a walk with them to the mountain regularly.
