Wendy Porter Cade
BA in Religious Studies, Shorter College; M.Div, The General Theological Seminary of the Episcopal Church
Wendy grew up happy and healthy in Lilburn, Georgia with two kid brothers, two loving parents, and, over the course of her childhood, several dogs, two cats, and dozens of fish. She went to Camp Mikell, an Episcopal summer camp in Toccoa GA, for nine summers, and it was there that she learned about the vast expanse of God's love, the awesomeness of swimming in a cold creek, and the value of true community. After graduating from Parkview High School, she went on to college where people thought she was from another planet when she spoke of going into the priesthood.
In 2002, she went to seminary and became a priest anyway. After her ordination in 2004, her eyes were always on Episcopal Schools. To be in a school community which values diversity, love, and collaboration was her heart's desire. After serving parishes in Delaware, Atlanta, and Lawrenceville, an opportunity finally came in 2010 to be the Middle School chaplain at Holy Innocents' Episcopal School in Sandy Springs. In 2015, she came to St. Benedict's to serve as chaplain. A dream come true.
Wendy is married to Shaun Cade, an attorney in the Atlanta area. They have one kid, Thomas, who is in Pre-K at St. Benedict's. The Cades enjoy cartoons, dinosaurs, being the first ones at the zoo on a Saturday, treasure hunting around Atlanta, and snuggling with their mutt dogs, Hildi and Banana. They have one fish, a red betta named Little Foot.
