HOW WE COMMUNICATE

Clear, consistent, and timely communication is a priority at St. Benedict’s Episcopal School. The Office of Marketing and Communications partners with school leadership, faculty, and staff to support school-wide and division-wide communications that keep our community informed, engaged, and connected.

We strive to ensure that parents and caregivers, faculty and staff, alumni, and the broader community have access to accurate and meaningful information about life at St. Benedict’s.

Below are the primary ways we communicate and share stories across our community:

SCHOOL NEWS (WEBSITE)

St. Benedict’s maintains an active News section on our website, where we publish stories highlighting students, faculty and staff, programs, campus life, and major school initiatives. These stories help tell the St. Benedict’s story and celebrate the people and experiences that define our community.

THE WEEKLY BUZZ (NEWSLETTER)

The Buzz is St. Benedict’s weekly digital newsletter distributed to current parents, faculty, and staff. It is published every Monday during the school year, unless a holiday falls on a Monday. The Buzz serves as the school’s primary communication tool for sharing school-wide events, important reminders, initiatives, announcements, and timely updates. While students are not direct recipients, the newsletter is accessible to the school community.

The most recent edition of The Buzz can always be found in the top-left menu of the website homepage.

GRADE LEVEL NEWS

Grade-level communications are sent by division principals and teachers and focus on information specific to each grade or division. These communications provide families with relevant updates related to academics, classroom activities, and division-specific events.

CONSTIUATE EMAIL

The Office of Marketing and Communications distributes school-wide email communications on behalf of internal departments, school leadership, and approved parent organizations. This process ensures messaging is coordinated, consistent, and aligned with school priorities.

WEBSITE

The Office of Marketing and Communications manages and maintains the St. Benedict’s Episcopal School website, including news stories, calendars, landing pages, and key informational content. The website serves as a central hub for school information, updates, and storytelling.

SOCIAL MEDIA

St. Benedict’s Episcopal School maintains official accounts on Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn.

These platforms are used to share news, highlight student and campus life, celebrate achievements, and engage with our broader community through photos, videos, and timely updates.

PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEOGRAPHY

St. Benedict's Episcopal School uses approved external vendors for professional photography and videography. We capture meaningful moments across campus to help tell the story of St. Benedict’s. This content may be shared across the website, social media platforms, digital communications, and marketing materials.

To respect student privacy, students without media release permission on file will not be photographed or featured in video content.

THE ST. BENEDICT'S BRAND

St. Benedict’s Episcopal School brand guidelines outline the appropriate use of the school’s logo, colors, fonts, photography style, and overall visual identity. These guidelines help ensure consistency across all digital and print communications and reinforce the school’s mission and values.

MEDIA INQUIRIES

Members of the media interested in information about St. Benedict’s Episcopal School, interviews, photography, or video footage should contact the Office of Marketing and Communications at news@stbs.org.

Faculty, staff, and parents must coordinate with the Office of Marketing and Communications before engaging with the media regarding any school-related coverage.

COMMUNICATIONS POLICIES

The Office of Marketing and Communications must approve all school-wide and division-wide communications (digital and print) prior to distribution. School email distribution lists and directory information may not be used for promotional purposes.

As a matter of policy, St. Benedict’s Episcopal School does not promote outside events, organizations, or businesses.
