Welcome Message From Head of School Fr. Brian Sullivan

Updated: Aug 15, 2023

Dear St. Benedict’s Families,

Welcome back to another school year! After spending a week and a half preplanning with our faculty, I can only say the excitement is palpable. For the first time in two years, all the faculty, administration, and staff were together in one room every day for morning prayer. There was a clear theme from the chaplains and myself - God is the center of our community, which is reflected through each teacher. This week, faculty and staff had the opportunity to train with the STEAM team, meet with a security consultant, receive extra training on social-emotional learning, set up classrooms, and collaborate on lesson plans.

To add to the positivity, we had a successful zoning hearing today! I am happy to announce we are finally approved for 4.2 acres on the corner of Daniel Street and Cooper Lake Road across the street from the county playground. As you may know, this will be the future site of our Middle School, allowing more space on all our campuses for collaborative learning environments and co-curriculars, such as music, art, drama, and physical education.

A few reminders for the start of the school year:

  • School Uniforms: Uniforms are on backorder, so if your child is in K-8th grade and doesn't have a uniform, do your best to match the uniform. Uniforms are required for all Kindergarten through 8th grade students and can be purchased at Lands' End. The document explaining the uniform requirements can be found here.

  • School Lunch: If your children need school lunch, please order as soon as possible by visiting Chef Advantage.

  • Chapel Services: Chapel will begin next week for 1st-8th grade, and preschool and kindergarten chapel begins after Labor Day.

  • The Weekly Buzz: If you haven't received the weekly email to parents - The Weekly Buzz, please get in touch with Katrina Garnes, Director of Marketing and Communications at St. Benedict's, at k.garnes@stbs.org.

We can’t wait to see everyone tomorrow morning!

Sincerely,

Father Brian Sullivan
