Dear St. Benedict's Episcopal School Community,
It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of Edward England, former Interim Head of School (2012-2014) and a beloved member of our school family. Edward's dedication to education and his unwavering commitment to his students left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
St. Benedict’s Board Chair, Dorothy Sullivan, beautifully expressed what Edward meant to our community. “I remember Edward as a kind and gentle soul who never wavered on a decision. He loved teaching, especially math. There was nothing he’d rather do than be in a classroom with middle schoolers talking about algebra—and with the patience of God! He loved St. Benedict’s and would have loved to stay with this community much longer.”
Brian Sullivan, our current Head of School, also shared his reflections on Edward's impact. “When St. B's needed solid leadership in its formative years, Edward immediately moved back to the Atlanta area to lead and help create a solid foundation for the future of St. Benedict's. Even after his tenure, he remained on the Board of Trustees and always picked up the phone when I had any questions about best practices and leadership challenges.”
Edward's passion for education and his love for St. Benedict’s were evident in every interaction. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched during his time with us. As we reflect on his contributions, we honor his memory with gratitude and respect.
Funeral arrangements will be held on November 9, 2024 at 11:00 A.M at Christ the King Cathedral in Ocala, Florida. We ask that you keep Edward's family and loved ones in your
thoughts during this difficult time.
With heartfelt sympathy,
St. Benedict's Episcopal School
