School Closure Due to Hurricane Helene

Dear St. Benedict’s Families,

After further review and consultation with local experts and guidance from the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA), we have made the decision to close school on both Thursday and Friday. GEMA is recommending that schools remain closed to ensure the safety of our children, which is our top priority.

Additionally, during the day today, our South Campus lost power, and by the end of the day, the HVAC systems continued to be unreliable. Given these circumstances, along with the potential risks of power outages, flooding, and dangerous travel conditions, we believe this is the most responsible course of action.

We will continue to monitor the situation and keep you updated over the coming days. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we prioritize the well-being of our community.

Stay safe,

The Rev. Brian Sullivan, M.Ed, MDiv.

Head of School

St. Benedict’s Episcopal School
