St. Benedict’s Episcopal School 6th Grader Ava Lynn Wins Future Explorers Award

St. Benedict’s Episcopal School is excited to share that Ava Lynn Freeman, a 6th grade student, earned international recognition in the 2025 Junior Scholars Essay Contest.

Selected from more than 1,100 essays submitted by students in 53 countries, Ava received the Future Explorers Award and a $500 scholarship to participate in Lumiere’s Junior Explorer Program, an eight-week experience that includes one-on-one mentorship and writing support. Her essay responded to the prompt, “Should society invest more in art or in science?”

Through the program, Ava will work individually with a mentor from a top research university and a writing and reflection coach as she develops a final project aligned with her interests. We congratulate Ava on this outstanding achievement and celebrate her curiosity, thoughtfulness, and love of learning.
