Where Futures Take Shape: Miles Russell ’22

From the moment students walk through the doors of St. Benedict’s, we are intentional about building more than academic skills. We focus on confidence, curiosity, leadership, and a sense of belonging that stays with them long after graduation. Alumni Miles Russell ’22 is a powerful example of how that foundation continues to make an impact.

Miles began his journey at St. Benedict’s in kindergarten and graduated in eighth grade, surrounded by teachers and classmates who truly knew him. Reflecting on his first day, Miles shared, “I walked in and was greeted with smiles from my teachers and my soon-to-be friends, and many of the people in that classroom are still my friends to this day,” said Miles Russell ’22. That early sense of belonging shaped his experience throughout his years at St. Benedict’s.

Strong relationships were paired with a rigorous academic foundation. As Miles explains in the video, transitioning from St. Benedict’s close-knit community to a much larger campus initially felt intimidating. “I was pretty scared,” he said. But once he settled into his classes, he realized the preparation he had received made a difference. “I understood that I had a leg up on all my fellow classmates because St. Benedict’s had helped me in the years prior with their learning curriculum and their Spanish program,” Miles said.

Today, Miles is a thriving senior in Campbell High School’s International Baccalaureate program. He has earned honor roll recognition and demonstrated leadership as a varsity soccer captain, helping lead his team to a state championship. These accomplishments reflect the confidence, discipline, and leadership he began developing at St. Benedict’s.

For Miles, the impact of his time at St. Benedict’s reaches far beyond academics. “St. Benedict’s not only prepared me for school, but prepared me for life,” said Miles Russell ’22. His story is a meaningful reminder of the long-term value of a St. Benedict’s education and the lasting foundation it provides.

We invite you to watch Miles’ story in the video above and see how futures take shape at St. Benedict’s.
